 Hello families, 

Today we finished our Northern Lights art project, and they will be sent home by the end of the week (I am working on sealing them so they do not rub off in their backpacks). 

We continued with pattern centers today.  Ask your child which center they were at.

We learned more about hibernating animals and why they have a hard time finding food in the winter. Please ask your child about what they learned.

Reminders:

Now that winter seems to be coming, please send an appropriate hat, mittens, boots etc., for the weather.  Please practice doing up zippers and putting on snow pants to support students in becoming more independent. Additionally, please help them learn how to tie their shoes or boots with laces if they wear them to school.  Thank you

Hello families,

Students went to music today.

We added white to the colour purple to see what would happen. Students created various tints of purple. Ask your child what happened in our experiment. 

We continued with pattern centres. Ask your child which centre they were at today.

We talked more about how animals get ready for winter. Today we focused on why animals hibernate and which animals hibernate. Ask your child what they learned. 

Reminders

If you have not already done so, please sign up for a parent teacher conference time so that I can update you on your child's progress. Conferences are Thursday November 25th (4:30 pm to 8pm) and Friday November 26th (9am to 1pm). 

There is no school for students on Friday November 26 due to parent teacher conferences.

Today we wrote about what makes us feel calm, peaceful and focused. Ask your child about what they wrote.

We started pattern centres. Ask your child which centre they were at today.

The colour of the week is yellow. Our words of the week are: yellow, in, play, we. 

Today we started learning about patterns. Ask your child to create a pattern out of objects or find a pattern around the house.

We went to music. 

We had literacy centres. Ask your child which centre they were at today.

Reminders

As the weather gets colder, please ensure students are dressed properly to be outside for lunch and recess. Several students need hats and mittens for the current weather. Also, please practice zipping up coats so students can dress themselves when going outside. Thank you!

Today in math we sorted objects by different sorting rules. We used animal shapes, stickers and pompoms to show how sort objects. Ask your child about what they sorted and how.

Today we read stories about peace and discussed what that means to each of us. Ask your child about their ideas of peace.

Hello families,

Today we learned about why the poppy is a symbol for Remembrance day and why it is important. Students thought of words that they associate with Remembrance day and wrote it on a paper poppy that will be a part of a school display. Ask your child about this learning and what they wrote on their poppy.

Today I sent home an interview form for students to discuss a family tradition. Please work with your child to complete the form and return it to school in the next few weeks. We would love to hear more about your family traditions!

Hello families,

We went to the library to pick new books.

We played soccer in gym.

We started writing a Fall senses poem. Ask your child what they wrote. 

We will be learning about different family traditions and today I shared my traditions as we celebrate Diwali. Tomorrow I will send home and interview form so that your child can share a tradition with the class. It can be something related to a holiday, such as Christmas, Eid etc. Or it can be something more simple that your family does together, such as pizza and movie Fridays. We look forward to learning more about our friends!

Today we used shapes to visualize and draw pictures in math. Ask your child what they drew.

We read a funny story called "The Very Cranky Bear". Ask your child what happened in the story.
