Today we reviewed our Lively Letters. We did a movement break that was Mario themed.
We did Drum Fit in gym today, and it was the last day for it.
We went on a walk to look for animal tracks in the snow and ice. We saw some bunny tracks, dog tracks, and human foot prints.

Today is the last day to get your Healthy Hunger Fun lunch orders in for February 2nd.
There is a PD day on Monday, so there will be no school.

Today in gym we did Drum Fit. Mr. Newton made Drum Fit videos for us to follow, they were so funny.
We talked about community helpers and decided to make cards for them next week. Ask your child about some community helpers.
In science, we talked about the similarities and difference between humans and animals in the winter. Ask your child about how animals and humans are the same and different in the winter.
We labelled and wrote about our guided drawings too.
We played wax museum to get out some of our extra energy this afternoon.

Today we had music, and we did freeze dance. We had gym, and we did drum fit again.
For math, we did questions with play dough to help us add numbers together. We wrote about our favorite senses. Ask your child about their favorite sense.
In character education, we talked about different feelings and put them in the correct zones of regulation on the smart board.

Friday: We are planning on going outside for a walk to take a look at animal footprints we may find in the snow and the ice. Please ensure your child has the appropriate clothing and footwear for this.

Today we did Drum Fit in gym, we had gym in the morning again. Ask your child about the songs we did.
This afternoon we did a Mario Movement break. Then we wrote more about our senses.
We used playdough to do word problems in math. We are starting addition and start with adding objects. For example, a question was "Ms. Honig went to the grocery store and got 3 cucumbers and 5 cobs of corn, how many are there all together?"
We had library today. Ask your child what books they got.

Today we did Drum Fit in gym. We did a song from the Lion King movie and we did a Baby Shark song too.
We did reading to self and reading to partner. For writing, we wrote about our five senses. An example sentence we wrote was "I use my tongue to taste". Ask your child what sentence they wrote.
We made cards for a student who has not been at school for a while.

Hello families,
We drew pictures of our five senses and labelled them. Tomorrow, we will write about them. Ask your child what the five senses are.
We had lunch recess and afternoon recess outside! We were super happy to be able to play outside again.
We had music, and we did freeze dance. After music, we had DPA and we did exercise videos on the smartboard.
In science, we looked at pictures of things we do with different senses, and then we circled the ones we liked.
For Social Studies, we were looking at pictures of tipis and figuring out how they were. made.

Today our schedule got changed and we had gym in the morning. We did Drum Fit and learned some new songs.
We listened to a story on manners. It was called "How Rude!"
We did Cosmic Kids yoga this afternoon. And we played wax museum in the classroom during indoor recess. Ask your child how to play.
We played bingo with numbers from 1-20 in math today.
We talked about our senses and how we would react to different things. For example, a question was what senses would you use in a friendly hug? Ask your child what senses they would use.
We looked at old pictures of Calgary and looked at what is similar and different to now.

Today we labelled the hibernating bear drawing that we did yesterday, and we wrote about it.
We did drum fit in gym today, and we drummed to the Chicken Dance song. Please ask your child about eh Chicken Dance song.
We did some math testing and then played bingo with numbers up to 20.
We had indoor recesses today so we played Simon says, coloured pictures and Spiderman chase on the smartboard.

Thursday is a spirit day - Inside out day - wear your clothes inside out
On Friday we are planning on taking a walk off of school property, so please make sure your child has boots, a jacket, mitts and a hat.

This morning we reviewed the Lively Letter y. We read to ourselves and read to our partners. We drew a picture of a hibernating bear and labelled it. Tomorrow we will write about it. Ask your. child how to draw it.
Today we had music, and we did the Humpty Dumpty song. Ask your child about the song.
In gym, we did drum fit. Ask your child about what they learned.
We did math games this afternoon to help us learn how to add. So far we have learned that putting some objects together makes the number bigger.
With the weather that is coming, please provide a winter jacket, mitts, toques and boots tomorrow.

Today we played math games on the smartboard as an introduction to addition.
We played on the playground for gym today because it was so nice outside.
We drew and colored a picture that Ms. Honig will make into a sticker.

Today we had a guest teacher in while Ms. Honig was doing some literacy and numeracy assessments.
We did read to self, read to partner and literacy centers. Ask your child what book they read to their partner and what centers they went to.
We finished writing about yesterday's guided drawing. We had gym and then our guest teacher read us a story called "Jillian Jiggs and the Great Big Snow".
In math we played math games and the one that we all liked was Dino Crunch, where we had to eat the right shapes before the dinosaurs did.
We also had library today. Ask your child what books they got.

Today we worked on learning our weekly sight words: do, by, draw, rain and small.
We did a guided drawing of a Cardinal and labelled parts of our pictures that we can use to help us write tomorrow.

Today we played number bingo for us to better figure out our numbers. We also did math centers today that are helping us make our connections between numbers from 1-20 stronger. This includes using bingo chips to count on 10 frames, drawing items of numbers we chose out of a box, and comparing numbers using stacked blocks. Ask your child what centers they went to.
Today we also did literacy centers where we made words with playdough, made a picture based on a poem, listened to a story and followed along in the book, and made words with stamps and magnets. Ask your child what centers they went to today.
We played monster ball and wax museum in gym today. Ask your child how to play.
In science, we started learning about seasons and how they happen. Ask your child about their favourite season.
