 Hello families, 

Today we did Literacy Centers, read to self and partner and then the Morning Message and Poem. 

After snack, we had gym.  Ask your child what they did for gym today.

After gym, we did an art project and created an Urban landscape with newspaper as the tall buildings, and construction paper to create windows, roads and other features of Urban communities.

 Hello families, 

Today we did our morning message and searched for word wall words in it. Then we went through our weekly poem.  

After snack, we did our literacy centers and then we started writing a list about things we find in Rural communities (we did Urban communities earlier this week). Ask your child about Urban and Rural communities. 

After lunch, we had gym and then there was a Recycling Relay in the Prairie that helped us earn more points for Environmental Week activities. 

We learned about animals in Spring and then we read an Indigenous story called "Birdsong".  It talks about the seasons. 

For Math, we did some addition questions and drew pictures to get the answers.

Today we wrote questions about an unfamiliar animal to try and figure out what it is. 

We had music and we did the green jellybean song. 

We did DPA after music, and we did a cosmic kids yoga about Earth day. 

We did a guided drawing of an Urban landscape. Ask your child what an urban community is.

- Important note: On Wednesday April 27th, we will be doing a community walk between the school and St. Clare to read a story. Please ensure your child has appropriate footwear and to dress for the weather.

 Hello families, 

Today we asked who, what where, when, why, and how questions about an unfamiliar animal, tomorrow we will write about it.  We did literacy centers and explored non-fiction text features including the table of contents, headings and glossary.

After lunch, we had Gym and we did an obstacle course. After Gym, we read part of a story for Social Studies called "We Dream Medicine Dreams" and it talks about the healing power of dreams.  It also features Indigenous art.  We also started learning about the differences and similarities between rural and urban communities.

In Math, we did an addition game called Addition Aliens on the smartboard. Ask your child about this game.

 Hello families, 

Today we learned more about non-fiction and learned about asking who, what, where, when, why and how questions. We started by seeing a picture of an animal that is not native to Canada, so we asked questions about it and did some research.  It is called an Okapi.  Ask your child about it. 

We had gym today and we played a gymnastics tag game.  In Science, we started to learn about parts of plants. 

For math today we played a dice game where we rolled two dice with a partner and added the numbers up together. 

We read a book called "Fishing with Grandma" which is a story that talks about living in Nunavut.

Teachers will be outside to supervise and watch for students who may not be picked up on time. This is good practice and preparation for grade two.  Hello families, 

Today we had to read to partner and read to self.  We wrote about the lamb and chick guided drawing we drew and labelled last week.  We also had our daily literacy centers. 

We had music today and we did the Sleepy Bunny song.  After Music, we had gym and we played a freeze dance game with the new gymnastics poses we learned. 

In Math we used dice to add two of them together to practice addition.

 Hello families, 

Today we read a story called "14 Animals that are definitely not an Octopus", and it was a great story. 

We did music, and we did the sleepy bunny song and the bunny boogy song.  We also used the xylophones and use them when we were listing to the Mortimer story. 

We drew a lamb and duckling for guided drawing, and we labelled it too.  

In the afternoon, we started addition and learned about the + sign and the = sign.  We also had DPA and we did a Cosmic Kids yoga video.

Today we did literacy centers and read to self and partner.  We wrote about the Spring animal we drew yesterday.  We talked about different Fairy Tales and what makes them each a Fairy Tale.

in Gym, we did another obstacle course that Mr. Newton made for us, and it was different than yesterdays. Ask your child all about it.

We watched a video about plants and how they live for Science.

 Hello families, 

Today we did writing.  We finished our Three Little Pigs writing.  We did our read to self and read to partner time. 

In Gym, we did an amazing obstacle course that Mr. Newton made for us. 

In Science, we did a guided drawing of a bird in it's nest in the spring time, and then we labelled it. 

We read a book called "Ms. Claire has lost her flair," that talks about how it is ok for us to have sad and difficult days sometimes and that there are people like teachers to help us. 

At the end of the day, we tidied up the classroom and did sharing circle.

 Hello families, 

Today we had gym outside, we played on the playground, the field and could draw with sidewalk chalk.

We did our poem, and we looked for word wall words in the morning message. We worked on spelling rhyming words on the smartboard with Lively Letters. We did read to self and read to partner and Heggerty for our literacy learning today. We worked on finishing our Three Little Pigs writing too.

We listened to a story called The Crayon Man which taught us about how crayons are made.

Today we worked a lot on our building projects.  We finished and had the Big Bad Wolf try to blow the houses down! All of our houses did not get blown down!

We read the Colour Monster today. 

This afternoon, we had music and we did the Sleepy Bunny song. After music, we had gym and we did some more skipping. We also played toilet tag.

 Hello families, 

Today we did Gym in the morning and had some DPA this afternoon. For writing, we wrote about Spring and how animals come out of hibernation.

We had a practice lockdown today. We did very well and we got to meet a policeman who told us we did a good job. We talked about safety at home and at school. 

We played heads up 7 up and had Literacy Centers at the end of the day instead of the morning.

 Hello families, 

Today we spelled some new words with the Lively Letters on the SmartBoard. 

In Science, we did building centers and we used two different types of materials instead of just one.  This will help us with our big building challenge that will happen next week. 

In Gym today, we worked on our skip rope skills and then played freeze tag. 

we talked about safety in the parking lot, as we have had a few students who go there and play around the cars after school.
