 Hello families, 

Today was our last day of school. We are happy it is summer and so very tired too. We are so excited for grade two in September. 

We did the rocket launch today and our class won for the coolest rocket! 

We did games and then we did chalk on the compound.  We also had gym outside today. 

We watched Toy Story 1 today.

 Hello families, 

Today we voted for our favourite rockets, and we will get to see them launched tomorrow morning. 

We played some games, had snack, and played some more games. Then we had a dance party! 

After lunch, we watched a movie and then stepped out into the hall to do the Grade 5 Clap-out to say goodbye to the grade 5's who will be moving to grade 6 at a different school next year. 

Indoor shoes were sent home today to avoid forgetting them tomorrow.

Reminders: 

Please send your child with weather appropriate clothes and footwear tomorrow as we will be out in the morning for a bit as well as the afternoon.  Light layers is advised so that they can take off a sweater when they get too warm. If your child needs sunscreen, please apply it before school. 

Tomorrow is the last day of school and it is a full day.

 Hello families, 

Today we cleaned out our bins and got out class photos. They are in the ziploc with their duotangs and class work. We did literacy centers today too.

We played more board games today. We had gym, and we did some stations today. 

We planned the activities we are doing on Monday and Tuesday. 


Reminders: 

- June 24: Sports Day - Please send your child in weather appropriate clothes (We will be outside if it is raining a little), with a water bottle and sunscreen applied if needed (we will not be applying it at school)

 Hello families, 

Today we did read to self and partner and then we spelled words with the Lively Letters on the SmartBoard. After snack, we worked on our rockets. 

We had gym outside, and we learned how to pass to our partners playing scoopers, frisbee and football.

We watched a video on Sage and Sweetgrass. 

After gym, we did our literacy centers. After the centers we played some board games. 

Reminders: 

Friday June 24: Sports Day - this is Beach Day themed, and please send weather appropriate clothing. Please do not send your child in a bathing suit. 

Friday June 24: We will be starting to send class work home today, so please ensure your child has a backpack or reusable bag with them

 Hello families, 

Today we had a virtual smudge with Mr. Scout and then played board games and started making our bottle rockets. 

After lunch, we had music and then we went outside to learn some Indigenous games with Mr. Scout. 

After recess, we will do some Math review games and then we will go outside for a Round Dance. 

Reminders:

Friday June 24: Sports Day, wear beach themed clothes.

Students should come to school dressed for changing weather, as well as with a water bottle, a hat, and two brain food snacks)

 Hello families, 

Today we did Literacy Centers and Read to self.  

Mrs. Brinson came and talked to us about when we should call 911 and who we should tell if there is an emergency.  We learned it is the teachers job to call 911 and not a students. 

In Gym, we played stinky armpit tag and wax museum. 

We looked at and read the instructions for all of the games Ms. Honig brought for the next few days. 

We shared about our cultures today. 

Tomorrow, we will start building bottle rockets for the contest on Thursday.  IF your child would like to bring a 591ml bottle to use, that is fine. It must be the small mouth bottles.  We have the 2L ones in the classroom to use for students to work in pairs. 

Reminders:

Plants will be sent home tomorrow June 21, we will package them the best we can for those that take the bus or go to daycare.


Tuesday June 21: National Indigenous Peoples Day - some events will take place outside so please have your child dress for the weather tomorrow

Tuesday June 21: wear Northern Lights spirit wear or an Orange Shirt too 

Friday June 24: Sports Day, wear beach themed clothes.

Today we did our centers and had reading time.  

We went outside for Gym, and then we came back and watched part of Horton Hears a Who.

 Hello families, 

Today we did our morning meeting with colour of the day, words of the week and counting straws to see how many days we have been at school. 

We did read to self and read to partner, and then we read our poem and did some Heggerty. After snack, we did our centers and then we finished writing about what we want to be when we are grown up. 

After lunch we had Music and then we did some movement breaks for DPA and finished it off with Cosmic Kids yoga. 

After recess, we did some Science. We looked at our plants we planted yesterday and got to see some changes! Ask your student about what changed. 

We started an experiment last week where we put a seed in water, sugar, sand, loose soil, packed soil and in the dark to see if any grow.  Ask your child about the results.

 Hello families, 

Today we did read to self and read to partner. We also did literacy centers. We did Heggerty today too. 

We wrote about what we want to be when we grow up.  We also drew a picture. 

In Gym, we played rock, paper, scissors. Ask your child about the rules to this game. 

Today we planted our germinated seeds in soil, then we watered them.

At the end of the day, we made a Fathers Day card. They will be home by the end of the week.

 Hello families, 

Today we listened to a story called Napi and the Wolves and watched a puppet show about it by the Calgary Public Library. Then we did read to self and read to partner. 

After snack, we did our centers and then finished colouring our Minion from yesterday. 

After lunch, we had Gym and then we learned about Rockets with Mr. Scout and a student in grade 4.  We tested out different balloons in making the rockets race across the foyer area. 

We played bingo in math and then read a story.

 Hello families, 

Today we did read to self and read to partner. Then we did centers. For writing we wrote about the steps of how to play our favourite game. We also did Heggerty. 

We had Music this afternoon, and we did the Sleepy Bunny song and then the Green Jellybean song. 

We did DPA in the classroom today and we did some Cosmic Kids yoga and a few movement breaks. 

For Math, we did a subtraction board game. After Math, we listened to a story about the Donut Shop.

 Hello families, 

Today we did read to self and read to partner. Then we did centers and then we did Heggerty. We wrote about how to get a plant seed to germinate. 

We had gym, and we played soccer and tag. In math, we did subtraction and we used our fingers to help us do the questions. Tomorrow we will learn a new strategy. In Science, we are testing to see if plants will grow in sugar, sand, soil, in the dark. 

We read the Good Egg book at the end of the day.

 Hello families, 

Today we had Stop, Drop, and Read! When the announcements came on playing some music, we had to stop what we were doing and read to self until the music stopped.   We did read to self and read to partner this morning, and then we did our weekly poem.  

After snack, we did literacy centers and then we drew a guided drawing of a coral reef.  Tomorrow we will write about it. After lunch we had Gym. After Gym, we did some Science and we labelled our coral reef. 

After Science, we talked about safety and what to do in emergencies.  We also talked about what sorts of situations are emergencies.
