Monday December 6, 2021

 Good evening families,

Today we wrote wishes for the school tree after reading the Wish Tree story.  We worked on tie-dying coffee filters to make snowflakes as part of our holiday door decorations.  Ask your child about how we tie-dyed the coffee filters.

We had gym and music after lunch, and found the buffalo in the school that shows up in a new place each day.  Ask your child where it was hiding today.

Reminders:

Please make sure your child has the correct clothing to be outside fore recess and lunch recess out in the cold.  This includes mitts, boots, a winter jacket and a hat.

Tomorrow is "Dress like you are going on vacation" day.  If your child is wearing shorts or a dress, please have them wear pants as they will still be going outside for recess.

Wednesday, December 8 – Cards for Seniors Day (We will be writing messages for seniors in Newport Harbour Long-Term Care and Assisted Living Facilities that could use a little love and joy.)
Thursday, December 9 – SPIRIT DAY – Wear Red & Green Day
Friday, December 10 – SPIRIT DAY - Pyjama Day / Door Decorating Voting Day
Monday, December 13 – SPIRIT DAY - “Dress to Impress” Day (Wear an outfit you would wear to a favourite family celebration (such as for Diwali, Hanukkah, Christmas, New Year’s, Chinese New Year, etc.)
Tuesday, December 14 - Deadline for photos to be sent to mlbrinson@cbe.ab.ca for our NLS Winter Family Traditions iMovie
  • By highlighting everyone's celebrations, both students and families will be able to see the different traditions celebrated during different holidays, such as Christmas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, and Kwanzaa, just to name a few, and learn to celebrate our differences while learning more about each other.

    • baking cookies
    • decorating a Christmas tree
